Hi, I'm Thais Angelica, a creativity and mindset coach. I help women find their sense of creativity. I've always loved being creative and helping others when I was a child. That feeling only grew stronger as I got older. I've become confident in my field and now wish to support others who may be struggling right now. My mission is to help women achieve success by helping them with their mindset, their beliefs systems and thoughts, and creativity, the fun side of life. I didn't always feel this great about what I was doing though.
Are you feeling stuck right now? Perhaps you are overwhelmed and unsure of what direction to follow? Do you not feel empowered by what you do?
I felt that way too. I remember feeling totally out of my element, and feeling out of place. I really wanted to be an artist but I had so many things I enjoyed doing! It was hard to focus on just one. I love to draw, paint, take photos, sew, color, and the list goes on.
I began my journey seeking an art and design degree. I loved taking classes and learning all kinds of techniques but I just couldn't see myself ever using them in a 9-5 job. I wanted to be my own boss and to be in control. I got my Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design from North Carolina State University's Design School and set off on my journey.
I thought I would teach children how to create art in the public school system. I loved the children but my time was mostly consumed with meetings and I was split between 3 different schools. It was really frustrating doing the best that I could to just stay afloat when I knew this wasn't fair to the children. When I was with the kids we would not only talk about great artists but I would teach them life lessons as well. This set me on a new path. I thought maybe I could sell my own artwork.
I decided to quit my job and invested in a handmade business coach, created my own website, learned a whole lot about selling, but I still wasn't where I wanted to be. Making art just wasn't enough. So I had to do some soul searching. Why was I not getting any sales? Were my pieces not good enough? Was the competition to steep? What was it?
Then it hit me. I wasn't enjoying the process. I had my head all wrapped up in the final product but was hating the journey! The same can be said for teaching, I loved teaching just not all the stuff that came with it. No wonder I wasn't making happy, my work wasn't made out of love. Well then, if that's the case I need to change all that. And I did.
I discovered that I would much rather help others by coaching. I still love drawing and painting, but now I do it for fun and with passion, not with a dollar amount in mind.
So I started with Natalia. She is a great artist in her own right but on occasion a second pair of eyes can really help. She would show me her sketches, her concept art, and ask for my opinion. I would help out by pointing out composition flaws, or by suggesting color combinations reminding her that color can set the town for a scene. I would encourage her to take breaks and to not get so bogged down with the details. She started going on jogs and this helped her be open to new ideas. Her artwork has grown and flourished. She now holds a Masters Degree in Art and Design and is seeking work as a story board artist and an animator.
Next I began helping Jocelyn. She loves drawing and writing and I have helped by suggesting tweaks to drawings, such as pointing out perspective issues, and have also been an editor for the written work. She was scared to get her work published, afraid it wasn't good enough and kept wanting to edit it, and edit it, and edit it. Finally I convinced her that she just needed to submit it. What was the worst that could happen? A rejection? Then submit it somewhere else. A submission to an online magazine paid off. Through shear persistence she is now a published author! I'm so very proud!
I also helped a Lenka learn how to draw. She always wanted to draw but wasn't sure how to begin. I began coaching her on the basics, how to look at a still life and really see what you want to draw. I also gave her lessons on human anatomy, taught her some art history, and we even took a trip to our local art museum! We've had a blast learning and discovering the joys of drawing. She needed some encouragement in the beginning as she thought her work would never be "good enough." But persistence paid off and now she has improved tremendously as an artist.
Why do I share these stories with you? To show you that success is possible and that you can become a success story. That by working with me you too can become confident, empowered, and judge your work less harshly. You will become passionate and feel useful in all areas of your life. You don't have to become an artist through my program, but you will be able to relieve stress and increase your own productivity through the use of your creativity.
Thais helps me to be the best artist that I can be. Through several weeks of training she has helped me with my goals of learning how to draw. It was hard for me to draw what I saw, but through persistence and excellent guidance, Thais has helped me improve dramatically. I am a full time mom and I home school my son. Even through this, Thais has been able to make my dream of drawing become a reality.
Thais has been an amazing coach. From both a critical and a creative standpoint, with regards to my art, she's invaluable - with her help, I've improved my skills and my output much more than I could have ever hoped to do on my own. I would be nowhere near my current level if it weren't for Thais.
Thais is very observant and detail-oriented, which has helped improve my ability to find what I was missing in my work. She is great at filling in those creative gaps with insights and exercises that I had no idea were out there. Learning from her has helped me become even more creative than I thought was possible!
Thais had a lot of great information to share in just a few short minutes with me! I gained insight on how to start the creative flow and reach goals that I have set in place for myself. I would recommend a consultation call with her to see how she can help you reach your creative goals.
